SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
A Shreveport doctor says he would like to help his fellow Syrians in a humanitarian capacity but it's just too dangerous.
Syrian civilians have clashed violently with government forces in what some are describing as civil war. Thousands of civilians who have demanded change have been killed as government forces crack down on the revolt.
Dr. Saadah Alrajab, a pulmonary physician at LSU Health Shreveport has been keeping up with the headlines from his country, and says he wishes he could go back to Syria to help but there's not much he could do.
Dr. Alrajab views the situation as critical, believes change is inevitable, and he hopes for a peaceful resolution.
"If you save a life, it's like you have saved humanity, if you kill a life it's like you kill humanity," said Dr. Alrajab.
His Syrian friends who live in the U.S. he says canceled their flights to Syria back in June, and he believes the situation is even more dangerous now.
