HEMPSTEAD COUNTY, AR (KSLA) -
A Hempstead County, Arkansas high school teacher surrendered to authorities Thursday morning and was formally charged with sexual assault.
Monica Lee Teel, 27, of Murfreesboro, Arkansas is a Civics teacher at Murfreesboro High School according to Hempstead County Sheriffs.
Teel's arrest was the result of an investigation into a report that a teacher and one of her students were meeting at a cabin in Northern Hempstead County to have sex.
Teel was booked into the Hempstead County Detention Center on one count of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, she is awaiting a first court appearance.
