SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport police and the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office are investigating the death of a one-year-old boy in Shreveport's Mooretown neighborhood.

Firefighters responded to an EMS call at a home in the 6800 block of Broadway Avenue just before 7 a.m. about a baby that was not unconscious and not breathing. Paramedics rushed the baby to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 9 a.m.

The family's pastor talked to KSLA News 12 about how family and friends are coping with the loss, after a one-year old Roderius Lott was found dead on Thursday morning. While the exact cause of death for Roderius Lott is still unknown, family and friends are coming together to support each other.  Even in the chaos of the moment everyone at the home made time to stop and pray.

"You go to bed at night and you never know what tomorrow is going to bring. But, God has everything under control. We just ask the community, and the entire city to just pray for this family, and just lift them up," said Pastor James Green. "You never know how to respond in incidents like this. I mean, the love and the community is coming together. That's what they need at this time, is some love."

Police spokesman Bill Goodin says an autopsy is being done on the baby to determine the exact cause of death. He said even though police are there they are not calling the home a crime scene, saying police were going to "err on the side of caution."

At least four people were taken from inside the to the police station for further questioning, but Goodin says "It's too early to call this a criminal investigation."

At this hour, the investigation into the child's death is ongoing and no criminal charges have been filed.

Meanwhile, police say the child's father has been arrested and charged with two outstanding warrants. Rodricus Crawford, 22, is charged with one count of second offense possession of a Schedule I narcotic and one count contempt of court. Crawford was also charged with another count of second offense possession of a Schedule I narcotic after crime scene investigators discovered a small amount of suspected marijuana in the home on Broadway.
