U.S. Secretary of Defense visits BAFB airmen

BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, LA (KSLA) -

U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta visited BAFB airmen Friday.

Panetta hosted an All-Call to thank the airmen for operating, maintaining and supporting the long-range strike missions performed by the B-52H Stratofortress, B-2 Spirit and B-1B Lancer bomber aircraft, according to Barksdale officials.

Panetta is also presented medals to airmen who have served in Afghanistan and other overseas locations.  He then met with Headquarters Air Force Global Strike Command officials to receive briefings on global strike capabilities.
