Injured boater out of hospital, search for missing cousin continues

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

An E. Texas man injured in a boating accident last week is out of the hospital, but the search for his missing cousin continues.

64-year-old Jerry Smith was with his cousin, 63-year-old Dan Stanley, fishing on the Red River when their boat hit some rocks and both were thrown overboard. Smith was airlifted to LSU Hospital, but Stanley could not be found.

As of Monday morning, LSU Hospital says Smith is no longer at their facility.

Meanwhile, the search for Stanley has continued. Captain Richie McCarthy with LA Wildlife and Fisheries says a half-dozen cadaver dogs were on the Red River this weekend, and he says a boat will continue the search at some point later on Monday.
