BATON ROUGE, LA (KSLA) -

A former Louisiana State University football player pleaded not guilty in court Thursday to charges from a bar fight.

Former LSU Quarterback Jordan Jefferson pleaded not guilty for a charge of simple battery for a fight outside of Shady's Bar in Baton Rouge back in August. Jefferson was initially charged with a felony, but a grand jury reduced the charge to a misdemeanor.

Jefferson will be back for a status hearing on May 10th. If convicted, he faces a $1,000 fine and six months in prison.
