TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -

The juvenile arrested in December for the assault of the elderly owner of a Texarkana skating rink now faces those charges as an adult.

Bowie County District Court Judge Jeff Addison has ordered 16-year-old Lamont Lakieth Mitchell of Texarkana, TX to be certified as an adult in the case.

Police say they responded to a disturbance call at Skate America in the 3700 block of New Boston Road on December 30th and found employees holding Mitchell. Witnesses told police that the teen was being escorted out of the building by 83-year-old Robert Webb, the business owner, for causing problems inside the skating rink when he punched Webb in the face. Webb fell to the floor.

Webb was taken to a local hospital with injuries to his head and then transferred to a hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Mitchell was also treated at a local hospital for a broken wrist.

The suspect was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with injury to the elderly. Now that he's certified as an adult, Mitchell has been booked into the Bi-State Justice Center. Bond is set at $100,000.
