SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
Shreveport Police arrested a local man who allegedly stole several shopping carts from an east Shreveport dollar store and then sold them for scrap.
Employees of the Dollar Tree, located in the 1200 block of Shreveport-Barksdale Hwy. reported to authorities seeing the suspect, Harvey Jenkins, 52 loading their shopping carts into the bed of a pick-up truck.
Video evidence recovered from a local scrap yard showed Jenkins selling three of the shopping carts, according to Shreveport investigators.
Jenkins was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of felony theft and one count of unauthorized removal of shopping carts.
Police said the buggies, valued at $250 each, were unfortunately destroyed before officers could recover them.
