FORREST CITY, AR (KAIT) – Police say a
Forrest city woman left her child alone in the car while she went to eat at
McDonald's.
According to the Forrest City Police
Department, Jonell Norwood, a 47 year old of Phillips County, is charged with
endangering the welfare of a child after police found a 2-year-old child alone
and asleep in a vehicle at the McDonald's parking lot February 1.
Investigating officers report that
Norwood was found inside McDonald's eating at a table with others.
When questioned, Norwood told police
that she thought it would be alright to leave the child in the car while she
ate, say police.
Norwood was taken to the Forrest City
Police Department for processing and released to the St. Francis County Jail.
She is due in court February 2.
The child is currently with a family
member. Police have notified child protective services.
