October 17, 2011- KSLA New Director visited University of North Texas in Denton, Texas with a group of Raycom Corporate Officers and Raycom News Directors. They spoke to the students about careers in the industry. Three students were interviewed, as we are working to build a student recruiting relationship with University of North Texas.

May 26, 2011: KSLA News Reporter (D. Warner) was a Keynote guest speaker at Caddo Magnet Middle Celebration for graduation. June 2011- KSLA News Reporter/ Anchor (S. Knowles) spoke to students at the Kennedy Center and also hosted an awards event for the organization. The Kennedy Center is a facility that connects mentors with students. July 2011- KSLA Chief Meteorologist (S. Parr) gave a severe weather presentation at Sci-Port. September 2011- KSLA Reporter (Colin) Spoke to elementary students at Work of God Academy. October 2011- KSLA Chief Meteorologist (S. Parr) visited Cherokee Park Elementary in Shreveport for their Learning Carnival. November 1, 2011- KSLA Chief Meteorologist (S. Parr) traveled to Westlawn Elementary in Texarkana to talk with the 3rd grade class about importance of staying in school and careers in weather. November 2, 2011- KSLA Chief Meteorologist (S. Parr) visited North DeSoto Elementary School to talk with the 4th grade class about importance of staying in school and careers in weather. November 11, 2011: KSLA News Reporter/ Anchor (D. Warner) was a guest speaker/emcee for Minden's 5th Season Brunch; which included local dignitaries, lawmakers, and Lt. Gov. November 29, 2011: KSLA Chief Meteorologist (S. Parr) went to Summer Grove Elementary in Shreveport to talk to Kindergarteners about careers in local television. |
