UPDATE: High speed chase suspects identified

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Two suspects arrested after a high speed chase on I-220 Thursday morning that ended with a rollover wreck were identified.

Shreveport Police Sgt. Bill Goodin says 17-year-old Ladarius Walpool and a 16-year-old boy allegedly stole a 1975 Ford pickup truck with two motorcycles in the bed. The theft was called in to police just after 9:30 a.m. Moments after that call went out, an officer spotted the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop.  There was a brief chase, with the pickup truck crashing and rolling over on the eastbound lanes of I-220 just east of Hilry Huckaby Drive.

Both suspects fled of foot, and Sgt. Goodin says a private citizen tackled one of them, holding them until police arrived.  A police K9 chased and caught a second. That suspect was taken to LSU Health with a dog bite.

Walpool was charged with three counts of theft of a motor vehicle, one count of running from an officer and one count of resisting an officer. The 16-year-old male suspect was charged with three counts of theft of a motor vehicle and one count of resisting an officer.
