NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB) -
The New Orleans Police Department is on the hunt for the man seen in a video posted on the internet that shows an apparent Alabama fan sexually assault an LSU fan.
The NOPD said the suspect is wanted for what they are calling a sexual battery after the BCS championship game.
It happened at the Krystal Burger on Bourbon Street around 11:45 p.m.
The NOPD Sex Crimes Unit found out Tuesday about the video showing people dressed in Alabama attire mess around with the apparently passed out LSU fan.
They did things like put food containers on him and poured water on his back. Then, one of them removed his own genitals from his shorts, climbed on the counter and committed the sexual battery.
The person sought is described as 5'7" to 5'11" with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a University of Alabama jacket and a white shirt.
The District Attorney's Office released the following statement on the sexual battery:
The incident captured on video following the BCS game was clearly disgusting. If and when the police department makes an arrest in this case, then the case, pursuant to normal procedures, will be evaluated for prosecution. In the meantime, the District Attorney remains focused on the prosecution of murderers, crimes of violence, and illegal weapons - the cases that are fueling this city's increasing murder rate.
If you have any information regarding this incident, please notify Special Victims Unit Detective Corey M. Lymous at 504-658-5523 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll free at 1-877-903-7867.
