Sibley police officer accused of misconduct resigns

SIBLEY, LA (KSLA) - A Sibley, Louisiana police officer has resigned from the department, months after several residents accused him of harassment.

We're told Officer Daniel Waites resigned on December 31.

We first reported the complaints in September. He was accused of stopping and arresting several people without cause. One woman accused him of forcing her to take a sobriety test for no reason.

Waites was asked to resign from another police department before he worked in Sibley.

The town is now down to two full time officers plus the chief.
