Something happened a few days ago that's worth noting. Residents of Shreveport's Mooretown neighborhood rallied against plans to store explosives in their community.
It's not a lot of explosives, just 50 lbs. used in the Oil and Gas Drilling Industry.
But for these residents, just the thought of explosives in the area was enough to get them to organize and show up at a meeting with State Representative, Barbara Norton, other state and local officials and representatives of the company involved.
These residents spoke up and stood their ground. As a result, the company is halting any plans to bring explosives into the Mooretown neighborhood.
These homeowners and citizens believe public safety is important. They spoke up. The amount of explosives involved may not have been significant, but not having that to worry about gives these residents peace of mind.
We applaud them for their action. I'm James Smith.
