SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics agent was shot in the chest Wednesday night while attempting to serve a warrant at a local motel.

The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. at the Plantation Inn, located in the 4900 block of Greenwood Rd.

According to Shreveport Police, the agent was in the process of serving a warrant to one of the rooms, when a suspect inside fired a single shot, which hit the agent in the chest.

Other agents, police said, were able to pull the officer to safety. Fortunately the officer was reportedly wearing a bullet-resistant vest.

Shreveport Police's Public Information Officer, Bill Goodin, credits the vest to saving the officer's life.

Three suspects were arrested, police have not released their names yet or what charges they face. Agents were able to recover a large amount of marijuana and a gun from the hotel room.

Stay tuned for updates.
