COLUMBIA COUNTY, AR (KSLA) -
Jaci Rae Jackson made her first court appearance late Wednesday afternoon in the Columbia County Courthouse.
The 18-year-old student from Southern Arkansas University was shackled and cuffed as she was escorted into the courtroom to face several felony theft charges for her part in the theft of five horses from the college in early November.
Mike Lusk, her attorney, says Jaci is innocent.
"All I can say is I maintain that my client is not guilty of what she's been accused of and we intend to show that," says Lusk.
There was heavy security in the courtroom as well as numerous members of the rodeo community.
Jackson was the first of three to be arrested in the bizarre case. Her bond was set at $100,000. Jackson is still in jail. If she gets out, she's been told not to have any contact with witnesses and she cannot go back to the SAU campus.
