NEW BOSTON, TX (KSLA) -

A man accused in the shooting death of a northeast Texas sheriff's deputy has been indicted on a capital murder charge.

A grand jury in New Boston indicted Tucker Strickland on Thursday. The 21-year-old Texarkana man is charged with shooting Bowie County sheriff's Deputy Sherri Jones in the head with her own gun in April, while she was escorting Strickland from a court hearing.

Strickland then fled from the courthouse in the county's prison van. He was recaptured about 30 minutes later by authorities in Ashdown, AR.

He remains in the Parker County Jail with bond set at $3 million.
