Burn bans lifted in Caddo, Bossier and DeSoto parishes

BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Burn bans have been dropped, at least temporarily, in Caddo, Bossier, and DeSoto Parishes.

Bossier Parish Director of Public Safety Sammy Halphen says the burn ban has been lifted due to the recent rainfall. Still, Fire District Chiefs urge Bossier Parish citizens to take extreme caution when burning, and request that no burning be done on windy day.

The DeSoto Parish Police Jury on Wednesday also lifted the burn ban there for a 30-day period.

The fully-lifted burn ban comes after a "partial-lift" of the burn ban the last week of October, allowing outdoor burning in connection with the preparation of food and for campfires used for recreation or for ceremonial occasions.

Last week, the Caddo Parish Fire Chiefs Association lifted the burn ban for the entire parish, citing sufficient rainfall in recent weeks. Residents are still required to obtain burn permits before conducting any outdoor burning.

A statewide burn ban, in place since March, remains in effect for Louisiana.
