TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -
A Texarkana man was sentenced to 50 years in prison by a Bowie County jury for shooting a woman at a public park.
21-year-old Stedmon Dewberry shot 26-year-old Latasha Antwine in August 2010.
Dewberry had an argument with a man at the park and left to get a gun. After returning, Dewberry shot into the crowd.
Dewberry said he was shooting at the man, but the bullet hit Antwine instead.
Antwine was shot in the back.
The victim's mother, Mary Antwine, turned her daughter's room into a memorial.
"The trial is over, but it is never over for us," said the mother. "We have to live with it on a daily basis."
Christopher Daly was allegedly with Dewberry at the time of the shooting and has a pending trial.
