A recount will take place on Thursday after only four votes separated the two candidates in Saturday's Bossier City Council District 5 race.
Tommy Harvey got 1,163 votes, while his opponent Larry Hanisee got 1,167. With the total so close, Harvey asked for a recount.
The recount will take place Thursday morning at the Clerk of Court's office in Benton. Only the mail-in and faxed-in ballots will get recounted. All other ballots were cast by machine.
Four different people will look over the fax-in votes and mail-in votes, most of which were read by a scanner. After that, the votes will be re-tallied to see if the vote count will change.
The Council District 5 seat was made vacant earlier this year by then-Councilman Chubby Knight, who resigned from the council to avoid a bank fraud charge.
