It's hard to believe, but Christmas is just around the corner.
Many retailers say they plan to start their Christmas selling season earlier this year. That's because they are concerned with the lack luster economy and fear Christmas sales may be weak.
Most merchants make up to 60 percent of their yearly profit during the holiday season.
This brings us to the question of where you plan to spend your Christmas dollars? As we have in years past, we encourage you to shop at home. Our local merchants need your dollars more than ever.
By shopping at home, you not only help local merchants, but also, helping our community's economy. That's because the dollars you spend, pay the employees where you shop. In turn, those employees take that money and hopefully spend it locally too.
Taxes from those sales go to local governments to improve roads, drainage and other needs. Remember the saying, "A rising to shop local." We can improve our economy, help bring down the local unemployment rate and make life better for us all."

Viewer Comments:
"I wholeheartedly agree that the local dollar is best spent locally during this time of year, when possible. Many "big box" stores tend to think they're the only show in town. The difference in service quality is often palpable. Few large companies truly take care of the "little guy" working for them. Service suffers when an employee doesn't truly enjoy their job."
Sincerely,
Tired of Retail
