LONGVIEW,TX (KLTV)- In Harrison County, a falling limb sparked a fire that burned ten acres at a wooded area near Talley road near Estesville road, south of Interstate 20. West Harrison and Eastman fire units battled the blaze which had started in a tree line, and quickly spread to underbrush. Bull-dozers and booster units were called in to cut firebreaks, and the fire was contained within an hour. The quick response to the blaze was due to it being spotted by a forest service aircraft on regular patrol.
"It was real helpful when we were trying to find it and how to get to it and what roads to use to get in, unlike 3 weeks ago, we actually had helicopters readily available to hit it hard and fast and we got a good stop on it before it got out of hand," says west Harrison vfd firefighter Matthew Krobchuk.
Forestry service crews from Colorado and Arkansas also assisted in containing this fire.
