UPDATE: 09/08/11 2:45pm: According to Smith County Fire Marshal Jim Seaton, the blaze off of CR 240 (In the Jackson Heights area) has been contained.

Three dozers from the Forestry Service and one private citizen have circled the site.

No structures were lost and no major damage was reported.

Crews will remain on scene to monitor hot spots that are flaring up.

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Authorities say they have an arson suspect possibly connected to Wednesday's fires along CR 26, CR 233 and CR 240.

Constable Dustin Rust says three witnesses told authorities they spotted a man driving a bluish, silver Thunderbird in the area when the fires started.

According to Rust, those witnesses also told authorities they saw the man throw burning socks into brush piles.

Rust says authorities stopped and questioned a person matching the suspect's description. Authorities have not released a suspect's identity at this time. No charges have been filed.

KLTV began investigating the arson reports Wednesday night. KLTV spoke to Jay Brooks, who's an assistant fire marshal for Smith County. According to Brooks, that information came to the Sheriff's department from a resident, and they are "looking into it".
