SPD investigating second homicide in 3 hours

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport police are investigating two deadly shootings within hours of each other.  Around midnight Saturday, a man was found lying in the street in the 3100 block of Richmond Road in the Caddo Heights neighborhood. He was rushed to LSU Health Sciences Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say Tony Sheppard, 35 suffered at least two gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at LSUHSC

Less than three hours earlier, 25 year-olds Roshenna Crowder and Donald Brown were shot in a home in Cedar Grove. Crowder died at the scene while medics rushed brown to LSU Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The locations of the two shootings are within minutes of each other, but police say it's too soon to tell whether they are related. "This is very unusual, and obviously concerns us greatly," says Shreveport Police Sgt. Bill Goodin. "At this point, saying or attributing any connection between the two shootings would be pure speculation. I'm sure as detectives move forward in their investigation, they're going to look at that."

It was enough to prompt Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover to tweet, "OK, #Shreveport, 2 separate shootings, 2 homicides, a 3rd is in ICU.  Need info, call 318-673-7373.  #PleaseHelpUsBringThemToJustice #SPD"

The deadly shootings become the city's 11th and 12th homicides of 2011.
