It happens all the time. You're driving down the street and the car in front of you is going way below the speed limit or the light turns green and the car in front of you doesn't move, or you're on the highway and the car next to you is moving into your lane.
All too often, it's because the driver is on their phone and not paying attention and all too often, it results in a car crash.
That's why KSLA News 12 has launched a new public service campaign: Focus, Drive, Survive.
It's a reminder to us all not to be a distracted driver. Don't spend your time on the phone or texting or checking email while you are behind the wheel of your car. It's a recipe for disaster and for us parents, it sets a very bad example for our children.
According to the National Safety Council, 28 percent of traffic accidents occur when people talk on cell phones or send text messages.
We all know it's not a good idea. Let's all pledge to Focus, Drive, Survive. Let me know what you think.
I'm James Smith.
