UPDATE: Man killed in weekend motorcycle wreck on I-20 identified
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA)- Shreveport Police released the name of a man who fell to his death after his motorcycle crashed into a wall on Interstate 20 in Shreveport on Monday.
The accident happened just before 11:00 Saturday morning. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Jerrmy Haltom of Marshall, Texas.
According to Shreveport Police, Haltom was traveling on his BMW motorcycle northbound on Spring St. onto the I-20 entrance ramp when he lost control of the vehicle and thrown from his motorcycle, off the entrance ramp landing near Spring St. below.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Witnesses on the scene said they saw the motorcyclist try to pass a car on the ramp, then within a few seconds, spotted his helmet rolling across the street.
Travis Sonderland who saw the accident happen said "The guy actually hit the wall somehow and fell off the top ramp going onto I-20 it looks like. We were the first ones to stop. I went down there, tried checking his pulse. The look in his eyes, you could tell he was gone."
Police say there is no evidence so far that it was anything but an accident. The investigation continues.
