Every once in a while, we need to step back and realize the opportunities we have here in the Ark-La-Tex, especially for recent graduates.
The latest sign of this comes from Kirk Foreman. He is the president of the North Louisiana Economic Partnership.
Citing a new Top 25 list, published online, Mr. Foreman says Shreveport-Bossier comes in at #20 of the Top 25 Best Cities for recent graduates.
Forbes Magazine recently listed our area as 7th in mid-size metros for best cities for jobs.
Factors like a cost of living below the national average and relatively low housing costs contributed to our high ranking.
All too often, our graduates feel they need to leave town, even the state in order to find opportunities. That just isn't always the case.
So how do you find these jobs? One way is a special web site set up by the North Louisiana Economic Partnership that highlights area employers and jobs available. That web site is workthisway.org. You can find a link in our Links in the News section on our home page at ksla.com.
