UPDATE: Louisiana State Police say the man injured in Saturday night's natural gas well blowout has been released Sunday from Willis-Knighton Pierremont. No other information has been released.
RED RIVER PARISH, LA (KSLA) - One person has been confirmed dead and another has been airlifted to LSU Medical Center with serious injuries, following an explosion on a natural gas processing site in Red River Parish.
The explosion happened around 7 p.m. Saturday on Yearwood Road which runs off of a Hwy 1 in Red River Parish at TGGT Holding LLC, a natural gas treatment center.
The two men were the only ones in that area when the explosion happened.
Police say that no evacuations are warranted at this time, however the plant has been shut down. They also tell KSLA News 12 that the debris cleanup process is underway.
The cause of the gas explosion is under investigation.
