TRAFFIC ADVISORY: I-49 and I-20 closures in Caddo this week

CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists in Caddo Parish of the following lane closures along Interstates 20 and 49.

Beginning Thursday, May 19 through Thursday, May 26; Department of Transportation officials advise that I-49 in Caddo will be under construction at various bridge locations for joint repairs.

Starting at 3 p.m. Thurs. May 19, I-49 southbound will be down to one-lane at Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, LA 526, Exit 199. This lane restriction will remain in affect, officials say, until Friday, May 20 at 7:00 a.m.

On Friday, May 20, starting at 9 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, May 22; transportation officials advise that I-20 eastbound to I-49 southbound will be CLOSED to traffic. And I-20 west to I-49 south traffic will be reduced to one lane. Commuters who have to travel in that area, are advised to get on I-49 at Murphy St. entrance ramp instead.

Sunday, May 22 from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday, May 23; I-49 northbound to I-20 westbound will be CLOSED to traffic. And traffic on I-49 north to I-20 east will be reduced to one lane traffic as well.

Transportation officials advise motorist that need to travel in that area to use the Murphy St. entrance ramp to get on I-20 instead.

That following Monday, May 23, beginning at 1 p.m. until 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, I-49 north at Kings Hwy., Exit 205 in Caddo will be down to one lane traffic. The same will be the case on Tuesday during those hours, transportation officials say.

Then on Wednesday, May 25, during those same hours, 1 p.m. until 7 a.m. I-49 south between 70th St., Exit 202 and LA 3132, Exit 201 traffic will be down to one lane.

LA DOTD urge drivers to drive with caution during these times as traffic will be slower than normal in some of the affected areas and then in other areas be cautious of traffic congestion.
