GRETNA, La. (AP) - The Jefferson Parish coroner's office is trying to determine whether remains found in a wooded lot Sunday near Gretna are those of a human skull.
Sgt. Larry Dyess, spokesman for the sheriff's office, says people out for a walk found the possible remains Sunday morning on the same lot where body parts were found Dec. 10.
Dyess tells The Associated Press that the remains found in December did not include a skull, and the coroner's office was trying to determine whether the two sets of remains are from the same body.
The remains were all found on a wooded lot behind a grocery store in an unincorporated area outside Gretna. They were within a few hundred yards of where the remains were found five months ago.
