SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA)- As the old saying goes, "if you're gonna talk the talk, then you better be able to walk the walk.
For the fourth straight year, that's exactly what State Representative Patrick Williams is doing by walking 226 miles from Shreveport to Baton Rouge.
A few dozen friends and supporters also turned out for today's start.
The goal: to raise awareness about autism and childhood obesity.
"We are hoping, and at this point, that we're doing needs assessment to tell Louisiana what we need as far as resources for autism. Resources for childhood obesity. That's how serious it is. When you get two men that want to walk all the way to raise awareness. It's serious," says organizer and parent of an autistic child Tabatha Taylor.
That 226 mile walk will take 10 days. Plenty of time before the start of this year's regular legislative session in Baton Rouge. It convenes at noon on Monday, April 25 and end no later than June 23.
