Marshall ISD plans to discuss teacher cuts

Marshall, TX (KSLA) - An agenda posted late Friday night shows the school board plans to talk teacher cuts in a Special Called Meeting. Marshall Independent School District will meet on Monday, April 11, 2011 to discuss what could mean a 10 percent reduction in workforce.

The board will first meet behind closed doors to hear Superintendent Bruce Gearing's recommendations for the renewal of employee contracts. Gearing told KSLA News 12 in March that he expected between 110 and 170 employees to lose their jobs. The cuts come after a six million dollar cut to the school district's budget.
