Remembering murdered DeSoto Parish teen Justin Bloxom
DESOTO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary of the death of 12-year-old Justin Bloxom of DeSoto Parish, Louisiana.
In memorial of Justin, the entire faculty and student body at North Desoto Middle School in DeSoto Parish held a moment of silence Wednesday morning.
The principal asked everyone to reflect on Justin's life and the memories he left behind. One student reportedly recited a poem in Justin's honor.
The brutal details and strange circumstances surrounding Justin's death and the subsequent arrest of his alleged killer, Brian Horn captivated and shocked the community of Stonewall, Louisiana.
Bloxom was last seen at a friend's house where he was sleeping over that night.
Investigators believe Horn posed as a young girl via text messages. Those texts said a taxi would pick Bloxom up for the two to meet, and investigators think Horn drove that taxi. They found Bloxom dead in a ditch off Highway 171 that afternoon.
Horn's trial is set for August 1st. DeSoto Parish District Attorney, Richard Johnson will seek the highest punishment for first degree murder.
"Our goal is to go for the death penalty. This is a case that is one of the most horrendous I've seen, and this case screams for the death penalty," said Johnson.
