I put gas in my car this week. It cost me $50. Not that long ago, it was a $34 fill up. One of our employees with a large SUV stopped when the meter hit $75.
I can see you out there, shaking your heads. You know exactly what I'm talking about.
It seems that every time there is a flare up in the Middle East, we feel it at the pump.
Even though the supply of oil has not been interrupted, the price we pay immediately goes up. There's something wrong with that, but try and get a reasonable answer, you might as well forget it.
As long as we continue to rely on foreign oil, this will happen to us. We are not in charge of our own destiny. The foreign oil producing countries are pulling the strings.
You may remember all this first began in 1973 with the oil embargo.
Since then, various presidents and energy czars and congressman and senators promised America will reduce its dependence on foreign oil. It hasn't happened yet, and until it does, expect more sticker shock at the gas pump.
Let me know what you think. I'm James Smith.
VIEWER COMMENTS:
"Have seen many articles on the price of gas going up, but no one is letting people know the price of diesel fuel is skyrocketing!! The price has increased in 10 cent increments about every two days to a whopping $3.79 a gallon. I know most don't think much of it because most of us drive gas powered vehicles, but we should all be concerned with this because almost all products we use and consume will be going up to. If you stop and look you will notice groceries and other consumables that we have to have are going up to. At the rate diesel cost are rising, we will be looking at $5 or higher fuel cost by the Summer for a product that is a by-product of gasoline. It's time our federal government grew a spine instead of a bigger war chest and put a stop to the OPEC car-tell! I would urge all Americans to call their congressman or women and voice their opinions it is our right too!

"I stayed at the gas pump $20 too long. I was pumping so long, that I actually looked underneath my car to check if the gas was spilling on the ground."
