Shreveport, LA(KSLA)- A Shreveport woman is charged with filing a false police report after Shreveport Police Investigators found out she fabricated a home invasion story.
The incident happened back on June 22, that's when Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a report of an attempted home invasion in the 100 block of Bruce Avenue.
Lilian A. Distefano told responding officers that she was at her home when a male suspect broke out a window pane in a door with a hammer and put his hand through the broken window.
The victim told officers she armed herself with a kitchen knife and stabbed the suspect in the arm and that the suspect then fled the scene on foot. Officers were able to recover the knife outside of the victim's home. The victim was not injured.
Months later, forensic evidence contradicted what Distefano had previously claimed. Based upon the findings, detectives issued 31-year-old Lilian Distefano a misdemeanor summons charging her with one count of filing a false police report.
