Street in Bossier City shutdown for bridge demolition

BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - City of Bossier City officials advise commuters of a street closure.

Traffic St. is now closed to thru traffic from Ogilvie St. to Broadway St. until February 22, 2011.

City officials advise that the closure comes as crews demolish the Kansas City Southern railroad bridge. The bridge is reportedly being replaced as part of the Traffic St. widening project.

Detour signs are now in place to direct motorists to Hamilton Rd. as an alternative north-south route between E. Texas St. and Barksdale Blvd.

The project is reportedly being funding with money from a 2007 $100 million bond issue and is expected to cost $9 million. Work began back in January and when complete, Traffic St., will no longer be a two lane road, but a five lane road including a turn lane.
