Shreveport, LA(KSLA)- Spring maybe good weather and outdoor fun time for a lot of us, but for crooks, thieves and scammers, good weather means opportunity. With spring just around the corner and warmer weather on the way, the Shreveport Police Department is reminding citizens to always stay vigilant and keep safety in mind around their homes.
The police department has received complaints recently regarding people going door to door selling one thing or another or asking for work. Residents should always be wary of such solicitation attempts and remember not to open their doors to any stranger.
If someone knocks on your door trying to sell you something or offering to provide some service for you, you should immediately call the police department and request an officer out to investigate. Many times these visits from strangers are simply ruses to facilitate criminal activity. Always err on the side of caution and never open your home to someone you do not know.
The non-emergency number for the Shreveport Police Department is (318) 673-BLUE (2583). Of course, if you need to report an emergency call 911.
