Two soldiers killed in Afghanistan, one from Louisiana

UNDATED (KSLA)- The Department of Defense reports Saturday the deaths of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

One of the two soldiers is reportedly from Louisiana DOD officials said.

24-year-old Spc. Christian J. Romig, of Kenner, Louisiana died back on January 5 in Afghanistan when insurgents allegedly attacked their unit using an improvised explosive device.

Spc. Romig had been assigned to the 1st Squadron, 61st Calvary, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

The second soldier has been identified by DOD as 48-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Robert W. Pharris of Seymour, Missouri. He was assigned to the Missouri National Guard Agri-Business Development Team IV, Jefferson City, Missouri.
