BIENVILLE PARISH, LA (KSLA) – Louisiana State Police have released more details about a man that was hit and killed by an 18 wheeler late Thursday night in Bienville Parish.
So far troopers have confirmed that the victim is a 65-year-old man from Jamestown, California.
Just before midnight, State Police Troop G were called out to Interstate 20 at milepost 63, in Bienville to a reported pedestrian hit.
At this point in the investigation, State Police have learned that the victim was driving west on I-20 in a 2005 Chevrolet pickup, when for an unknown reason, he pulled over to the shoulder. He then reportedly stepped out the truck into the westbound lane and that's when he was hit by the tractor trailer.
Troopers have also identified the driver of the 18 wheeler as 44-year-old Jeremiah Gresco of Clarksville, Tennessee.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bienville Parish Coroner, State Police said. Gresco suffered no injuries.
Although Gesco has not been cited with any violations, routine toxicology test results are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
