RUSK CO., TX (KSLA) - A Rusk County Texas hit and run suspect is arrested Friday for allegedly assaulting a law enforcement official.
According to Rusk County deputies, the incident happened at 7:15am on County Road 314 South in Henderson, Texas after a call went out on an armed hit and run suspect.
Texas Department of Public Safety and the Rusk County, Texas Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and as soon as Troopers and Deputies arrived, authorities say the suspect, a 44-year-old male fired shots from a weapon. After firing the weapon, the suspect allegedly pointed the weapon at the officers.
Authorities report the suspect did not fire at the officer, but instead fled the scene and reportedly threw the gun to the ground.
After a brief chase, officers were able to arrest the suspect. He now faces a charge of aggravated assault against a public servant and remains behind bars in the Rusk County Jail.
