SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport Police say a 16-year-old Shreveport teen surrendered to authorities Friday, in connection to the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old Friday morning.

Police have now identified the victim as 15-year-old Jacarlos Moran. He was pronounced dead at LSU Health Sciences Center.

The shooting happened just after 8 a.m. at a home in the 3100 block of Woodford St., in Shreveport's Ingleside neighborhood.

Police say a group of teens were inside the home when one of them pulled out a gun and allegedly began waving it around when at some point the gun reportedly went off, Moran suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.

After the shooting, police say the alleged gunman left the scene, but then returned to apologize.

Police say later on in the morning, the suspect surrendered to investigators at the Shreveport Police Complex.

It has been determined by investigators that the shooting was not intentional and the 16-year-old teen has now been booked into the Caddo Parish Juvenile Detention Center, facing a manslaughter.

Investigators are now working to determine why the suspect had the weapon and how he came to be in possession of the firearm.
