Tyler, TX Police arrest 19 y.o. for setting police car on fire

TYLER, TX (KSLA) - Police in Tyler, Texas say a 19-year-old has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to a police officer's patrol car.

The incident happened Friday morning at the Tyler Police Department.

Officers say the was parked inside the secure area of the department and an employee arriving to work noticed the 2008 Crown Victoria on fire.

Police say Officers immediately retrieved fire extinguishers from other patrol vehicles and started to put the fire out.  While doing so, officers say they noticed 19-year-old Payton Herrington of Lindale, Texas standing nearby watching the scene unfold.

It is believed by authorities that Herrington is responsible for the fire. She has since been charged with Arson and Criminal Trespass.
