"Taste of Interfaith" brings together diverse community

Shreveport, LA(KSLA)- Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus and many more groups from different faiths  gathered today to celebrate their different beliefs and cultures in a "Taste of Interfaith."

The event was organized by the Northern and Central Louisiana Interfaith Organization.

The organization is composed of a diverse group of citizens from different faiths who reach out to their local communities by learning their needs and lending a helping hand.

"By working together on projects we break down barriers and race and religion and help build community and that's what most of our faith groups are about," said Pastor Theresa McConnell from United Lakeview Methodist Church where the event was held.

The event featured a dinner with different dishes representing the diversity of flavors in the local multi-faith community.

It also included religious recitations, choir performances, poetry and a silent auction to benefit the organizations.
