SPD nabs would-be apartment burglar

Shreveport, LA(KSLA)- Shreveport Police patrol officers nabbed a suspect who was trying to break into an apartment late Friday night. The call came in around 11:55 p.m. call reporting that a male suspect was attempting to break into an apartment in the 1100 block of West 70th Street.

Upon arrival, officers were able to locate the man who had fled from them on foot in an apparent attempt to evade capture.

Detectives working the Robbery Intervention Detail responded to assist in the pursuit and, moments later, the suspect was spotted running across Mansfield Road. Police were able to capture him and take him into custody.

The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Eric Henderson, was also wanted by the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office for an outstanding burglary warrant. Henderson also had a warrant charging him with simple battery.

Henderson, of the 7100 block of Burlingame Boulevard in Shreveport, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail as a fugitive from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office and also on simple battery charge.

Detectives will be following up on this arrest to determine if Henderson is responsible for other similar crimes.
