SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – Lisa Hickingbottom went to Mobile Medix for the 3rd time in 2 days. Each time she found the doors locked and no one in the office. Mobile Medix, a car repair service, has more than 70 employees in several states. Hickingbottom works as a dispatcher out of Shreveport. She and other employees should have received paychecks Wednesday morning, but so far they haven't come.
"It hurts a lot with Christmas coming up," said Betty Boggs, another employee.
Hickingbottom says the company owes her almost $1,000, and she had to return her grandson's Christmas gift to get money to help pay her bills.
She says she keeps trying to contact the company's owners but hasn't had much luck.
"She started not taking calls from anyone. Drivers, dispatchers, anyone. She closed down the office and she's running out of an apartment somewhere in Bossier," said Hickingbottom.
When KSLA News 12 called, the owners did answer. They both declined an interview, but told me they were in the middle of a personal dispute with each other. They also both admitted the employees had not been paid. One said she hoped to pay them as soon as possible.
Employees like Hickingbottom just hope the company can sort out its problems soon, so they can provide a nice Christmas for their families.
The employees also say they reported the incident to the Labor Board, who told them they will investigate.
