SPD alerts public about investigator imposter calls

Shreveport, LA(KSLA)- The Shreveport Police Department is warning residents in reference to two separate complaints of suspicious phone calls.

This evening the Shreveport Police Department received complaints from two persons reporting they received phone calls that showed up on caller I.D. as 318-673-7300, one of the police department's non-emergency numbers, from a male claiming to be a detective.

This man told them that they were the target of an investigation and attempted to get their addresses claiming the police needed to interview them.

Authorities with the Shreveport Police Department did not make those calls and investigators have been notified and will be following up on these cases to determine who is responsible.

The Shreveport Police Department is reminding everyone to never give out any personal information to someone they don't know over the phone.

Anyone who might have received a similar call is asked to call the Shreveport Police Department immediately at 318-673-7300 so an officer can be dispatched to investigate.
