SHREVEPORT (KSLA) - Shreveport mayor, Cedric Glover, and the members of the new city council were sworn in Tuesday morning in an Installation Ceremony at the Shreveport Convention Center.
In his inaugural speech, Mayor Glover spoke about his last four years in office. He said he was excited four years ago, before obstacles like a deteriorating infrastructure and a national recession challenged his administration. He said Tuesday he was still as is excited as he was in 2006, but now with knowledge he can use to accomplish his goals. He said his main goal is as it's always been, to make Shreveport the next great city of the South.
All seven members of the Shreveport City Council took the oath of office this morning, including the only two returning members, Ron Webb and Joe Shyne. Former councilwoman, Joyce Bowman charged the new council with the responsibility of improving the city's weak infrastructure.
