Shreveport, LA(KSLA)- The Shreveport Police and the Shreveport Fire Department responded to the scene of a fatal motorcycle crash. It happened around 6:00 this evening in north Shreveport at Ravendale Dr. and Old Moorningsport Rd, just north of I-220.

Police say that a Chrysler 300 was headed southbound on Old Mooringsport road and began to take a left-hand turn onto Ravendale Drive. The driver reportedly told investigators that he did not see the oncoming motorcycle until it collided into the car, crushing the bike and leaving it connected to the car. The motorcycle driver was airlifted to LSU Medical Center and KSLA News 12 learned that the driver was pronounced dead. His female passenger on the motorcycle also suffered serious injuries. Authorities at the scene would not comment on who may have caused the crash.

"I cannot confirm that. The SPD conducts the vehicle-motorcycle investigators to determine who caused the accident. And the fire department, we're simply here to provide medical care," said Assistant to the Shreveport Fire Chief Fred Sanders.

Traffic was reportedly backed up for hours. Crash investigators were present and are still investigating the accident. Stay with KSLA News 12 and KSLA.com for more updates.
