8,000 lbs. of books to be shipped to troops from Ark-La-Tex

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – A local bookstore is continuing their project to send reading material overseas to U.S. Troops.

The Thrifty Peanut accepted another 500 books today from Centenary professors and staff.

"Once word got out, people started hearing about the campaign we were doing, they were just so generous with their donations that it pushed us way over and came pretty close to doubling what we originally set out to do," said Jason McLaughlin, Thrifty Peanut Owner.

Between the donations and the 100% match promised by McLaughliln, some 8,000 pounds of books are expected to be shipped.

We'll keep you posted on how the book and media drive turn out.
