Business owner says dust from construction is driving away customers

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – Department of Transportation and Development workers are widening the road along West 70th Street from two lanes to five.

Workers began construction back in 2009.

DOTD says the road widening will help with the traffic congestion between Bert Kouns and Pines Road.

During the construction, many drivers say it takes a lot longer to make their way through this stretch of West 70th.

"It's pretty rough, especially during times like 5:00, 3:00 with school getting out, it's pretty hectic," says resident Angela Williams.

DOTD says the $14.7 million dollar project should be complete by March, but not everyone is "excusing their dust."

One business owner has filed a complaint with the Department of Environmental Quality regarding the construction.

Tom Landis, owner of Tall Pines RV Park, says the dust from the construction is floating over to his business, and he's losing thousands of dollars.
